Revolution of Colours


Would a painter like to confine him/herself to only twelve main colours? - Wide variety, subtle nuances and detailed coordinations make colours vivid - and turn a painting into a unique experience.

Whether sound synthesis or sampling - Concerning the colours of tones a breath-taking development took place in the recent past, whether through sound synthesis or by sampling.
However, when it comes to pitches, we still live in the 19th century. The idea of fixed pitches, scales and chords remain permanently impressed on the black and white keys of the classical piano and - as if it were quite naturally - were kept alive by even the most contemporary keyboards.

No doubt, there are more than those 12 tones, and we have actually centuries of experience, showing that vividness and splendour of sound colour often depend on smallest deviations of the rigid temperated pitch.
Outside of Europe and even in Europe herself, there exist tuning systems that considerably differ from the common "well-tuned" system, the temperated scale. With the increasing interest in the ethnic musics of the world, the influence of non-equal extra-European scales on artistic music creation is growing distinctly.
The enormous variety of world music can impossibly be contained in a cage of 12 equal semitones!

Lift-off into a new key dimension

The new keyboard will put all these coloured tunings at your disposal. It has been developed with the anatomy of the human hand in mind, and presents the most simple way to realise various tone systems with extraordinary different pitches.





The playing area of the manual is divided into three levels: the lower area contains 4 coloured harmonic keys (pitches 4,5,6,7), the middle area, coloured and white, 8 melody keys (pitches 8 - 16), and the upper area adds 8 chromatic black keys to a 16-step chromatic scale. (pitches 16 - 32).
A special scale with 32 touch-keys offers a micro-chromatic scale (pitches 32 - 64), that is particularly useful for sound synthesis (à additive sound synthesis)

To make use of the various possibilities of scale-combinations, sound mixtures and music creations the new keyboard is equipped with two manuals. Changing from one to the other provides an easier playing with several basic tones and the scales belonging to them. In this way, the new keyboard allows to make music and improvisations spontaneously and free from restrictive conventional rules.
