Additive Sound Synthesis
the techniques of sound synthesis additive sound synthesis is now
being preferred as it works much more differentiated than conventional methods
of sound synthesis; more over, the results are correctable and can be adjusted,
so that your imagination of a sound will be realised very precisely.
The New Keyboard offers such results instantaneously just by playing - as it is only necessary to hit the keys that are corresponding to the partial-tones (overtones) of the sound spectrum. As the so-called formants of a sound are primarily located in the lower part of the sound spectrum, the hitting of keys is sufficient to select the required partial-tones of the series 1 - 32; to add the upper partial-tones, choose them from the touch-keys which represent the microtonal scale 32 -64.
Velocity determines the intensity (amplitude) of the partial-tones. You can intensify them by dubbing the sound, using a link to the upper manual (keeping the same basic tone!).
You can also use the second manual to add further and higher partial-tones to the sound. By transposing the upper manual to the fifth for example, you will achieve the nature-tones multiplied by 3 (3x1, 3x2,....3x64) up to the 192nd nature-tone. In this way an additional arrangement is possible.
Finally, the combination
of both manuals allows completely different constructions of new sounds
in an experimental way. By pushing the buttons underneath the keys the
sounds can be converted instantaneously.
The simple sine-wave
is taken as starting-point of the additive sound synthesis, simply performed
by hitting the respective keys of The New Keyboard. This new instrument
offers nearly endless possibilities to create new sounds - you just have
to try and play!
